(I've just spent a couple of minutes at work looking an idiot trying to work out where my feet go on front/back hand waves...)

I think this is one where everyone will be a little different.

But for me... On the back hand I turn my front foot in a little bit towards the outside rail so that I can put pressure through my heels slightly better.

I find backhands easier, dont know why, but it does mean I can often pick off lefts when everyone else is going right :D

I have the problem that I get to go surfing so rarely that I want to make every wave count, so I always go forehand.

As a result my backhand absolutely sucks!

Who? Us? I dont think so...

Forehand - facing the wave. If you're a natural (left foot forward) then going to the right, so you can see how its breaking. Or going to the left if your goofy. Most people find this easier.

Backhand - with your back to the wave ie going left if you're a natural.

And your feet go in slightly different positions depending which way you're going

hey mate,
i surf backhand like a soul man really critical moves and just nice fluent movements, airs on your backhand are easy to because instead of settin up for you big bottom turn u already have the speed and angle to hit that closeout section and get the buzz of your life.
feet positioning seems as though you are a beginner so have more weight on your back foot asthisis your pivot foot ( should be about 75-25 % weight ratio) shoulder witdh apart depending on your style and wat ever is most comfortable, i believe there is no correct stance style just wat ever feels best.
PS: i am a PRO JR so if you would like to ask me any thing just PM

ah backhand, i couldnt do it on my old board but my new ones great. i think one day it just clicked for me and now its ok i think foot position depends on a lot of things really.

anyone else accidentally surf over the back of the wave instead of hitting it n dropping back in when surfing backhand?
