Had to share this

Postby Stone Fox » Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:33 pm

I'm new here, and I've only surfed a handful of times, but I wanna share something that happened one time:

I'm a complete beginner, and I don't know what I did wrong - the point of board must have dug in or something, and I've kinda slipped off the front of the board. The water wasn't to deep and I kinda landed on my feet in chest deep water.

The board seemed to have stood on it's nose in the water, before it's come down fin first on my left shoulder, knocking me under.

It didn't hurt to much, as I was pretty hyped up at the time, my shoulder was pretty numb though, so I got back on the beach and decided to sit down for a while, maybe grab some lunch, I've unzipped my wetsuit and pulled it down to my waist and some girl has come running over saying "Oh my god! Are you alright?!"

I didn't know what the hell she was talking about till I noticed I had blood running all over my chest!

Don't know how it happened, because there didn't seem to be a cut in the suit but I had a nice neat cut on my shoulder - over a year later and I still have a nice neat scar...! :D

Excellent, nothing like a war wound to show the ladies!!

Unfortunately my only wound from surfing is on my ankle (unless you count the numerous times my pride has taken a battering?!)

wicked mate, was she a tasty chick? yeah nice little wound and story to go with it but i would hype the story up a bit mate say it was 10 foot waves or something more than burying the nose.

I'm to honest dude! :D

Although it was about 5-6' and nicely spaced. It was at Saunton sands. The guys I was surfing with (experienced surfers) said it was probably the best waves they've seen at Saunton / Croyde.

But yeah, the whole thing was my Newbie-ness i think...

This was August / September '04, After that hurricane that maced up the caribbean blew itself out over the Atlantic - that weekend we got baking hot weather, and brilliant surf!

Anyone else on the coast that weekend?

I think getting cut by your fins must be some right of passage , in the past year I have sliced open the back of my thumb accross the knukle , sliced open my right forearm , stabbed the top of my right foot , and finally last week cut open my left calf muscle this has been coupled with numerous bruises and knocks .....

easty
