Damn that fickle south coast!

Postby drowningbitbybit » Tue Jan 03, 2006 11:14 am

Two weeks off work over christmas - time to travel, time to surf!

The two times there was decent south coast surf - christmas day and new years day!!!

The two times when there was no way I could get out of being with the relatives or had far too much alcohol in the bloodstream to think about driving the van!! :?

Oh well, there's plenty more winter yet :D
Fingers crossed the surf for 2006 is better than the p*ss poor surf of 2005!

Got some good surf on Tuesday Jan 4

Postby prish1 » Thu Jan 05, 2006 1:11 am

This is to all the East coast surfers on this forum. We got a good wind swell Tuesday that produced some five foot plus waves at Folly. It was choppy but ridable. The current was powerful but when you finally got out there it was pretty nice. This was only a short window I would say about three hours then the wind really picked up and it turned to mush. I think it will be decent this weekend for South Carolina and don't alway trust the surf report go down and see for yourself.

Cold waters of the Atlantic

Postby prish1 » Thu Jan 05, 2006 10:47 am

True the water is pretty cold in the winter here but full suit with all the extras and you do fine. This summer will be my first actual summer surfing. Spent last winter just starting out had a six month vacation then starting back out this winter. Easty I wish could surf Austraila and tried to get an assignment over in Sydney but it fell through. Maybe one day. Surferfreak talk to the local surfshops about setting up a camera. If not just go down and see for yourself. The guy doing the report might say it is flat, but you go down there two hours from then and it has some nice little lines. My bro and I had a damn good time riding little clean bumps around 1 to 2 feet. Plus if you have a longboard you are usally going to have something to ride.

Sounds good

Postby prish1 » Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:52 am

Sounds good but I am active duty air force and tied down for a little while. On the bright side it gives me the opportunity to travel and meet new people. I base all my assignments near the water so I can surf. What are the average wave heights in Sydney? I will keep trying to get over there.
