Costa Rica versus Peru

Postby cofs52 » Tue Jan 03, 2006 8:13 am

whats up everyone.

i am planning to go to Latin America for the month of August to surf and clear my head, and work on my spanish, before law school in september (damn it).
I am currently debating between setting up shop in Dominical, Costa Rica and surrounding breaks or Puerto Chimaca, Peru and its waves. The jungles of costa rica and ruins of peru, as well as quality of waves, are making it impossible for me to choose. so i was hoping someone could lead me in the right directions.

to recap:

August 2006
Dominical, Costa Rica v. Puerto Chimaca, Peru
Where Should I Go?!

Spent a few months in both Peru and Costa Rica.

I would go for Peru, no doubt.

spent some time in costa rica had a blast. Jaco for the parties and drinks (and close out beachies), dominical for good and heavy beachbreak with plent of mosquitoes. Pavones for the real surf, but everyone knows it. Pavones is close to the border of Panama, we were going to drive over but my friend had to get back to work. Don't know about peru. my friend when to el salvador with his girfriend, scored a great righthander, got mugged and girfriend got food poisoning. joy.

ever think of going to the Caribbean? I scored a good winter in Barbados and Tobago a couple of years ago. pricy but soo chill.

peace in the east
