BIG days in socal!

Postby gunner » Wed Dec 21, 2005 1:56 pm

i saw on the news last night that we are expected to get 9-15 footers today and tomorrow. they say starting south of la jolla, high surf advisory in effect until thursday. sounds like music to my ears. my buddy even told me he heard that some sets might get as big as 18 feet. i'll probably be hitting IB as usual, anyone else going? where? and how was it?

i just finished watching the news and day one is done. consistent swells of 10+ feet all day up and down the coast. the biggest sets coming in at 20 feet! oceanside, and imperial beach peirs were closed because they were so big. oceanside was reportedly "unsurfable" because the waves were so gnarly. the news also said that lifeguards made over 100 rescues, over 50 leashes broke, and around 25 boards were broken too. up in north county witnesses say there was one so big it broke 7 boards at once   . it lived up to the hype today, and tomorrow is supposed to be the same if not better.

I went down to Blacks Beach in San Diego today at sunset. I can tell you guys it was 20 feet on the sets, no joke. It was rideable, and there were guys out their catching bombers. I saw about 5 broken boards while I was there. The lifeguard brought in about 4 guys on his jetski. For the guys lucky enough to catch those monsters, it was totally amazing.
