Washing your rashvest

Ive oten wondered what is the best way of washing your rashvest, because you cannot put it into the wachine machine, or tumble dry it or iron it, - it is quite delicate.

Ive always just hand washed it, using only hot water. The only thing about this is it leaves a slight damp smell sometimes of the sea water and can leave dirt and sand in the rashvest (small dots of dirt that cannot be removed with just water).
Is there anything more you can do to wash it?

Watching machine is fine on a short COOL cycle with no spin or detergant.

But hand washing normally does the job fine. Its usually after the winter seasons its need going through the machine cause of the smell :p

The bits of dirt can be easyisly avoided but getting yourself a box! just take your booties off then stand in it thus no dirt/sand etc gets on the rest of your kit.
You get bits out just stretch the area where its embedded in the fibres and weaves.

i use a water hose and if u have a pool and keep it clorinated i do that to i dip it in there

I chuck mine in the washing machine with my normal clothes - normal wash with detergent and everything. It was a dirt cheap vest in the first place, it's now 8 years old and washing it doesn't seem to have damaged it in the slightest!!

Comes out smelling lovely too!!

i stick mine in the sink with my bikini (which also doesnt go in the machine) with a few drops of detergent and swish them around a little and rinse. comes out smelling pretty

Yep, never had a problem putting it in the washing machine. As already said - COOL CYCLE.

just out of randomness....wat is an expensive rashvest..cos i spent like 2000 thai baht on mine...(IE £20).. is that cheap or expensive?

£20 seems about average price in uk.

£14-15 for a just a basic rash vest , £30 plus for thermal one ! also i bet quicksilver/ripcurl ones are stupidly over priced though

i wouldnt put a rashie in a chlorinated pool.. i stupidly went swimming with one ages ago and the color faded out...
