The perfect wetsuit fit

Postby Laguna » Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:54 am

hey sorry to post this caus I know theres loads of similar ones before. But what is the perfect fit for wetsuits? Because on the scales I should be Medium and the guy in the shop said I would and I would agree. Except Everytime I tried a medium on the length was fine but I felt it was tight in the arms, neck and knees.

But anyway I finally bought a winter 5/4/3 wetsuit in a medium and it seems alright but I still get the tight feeling in the neck arms and knees. I can only just manage a rashvest underneath it - its hard tho.

Can anyone tell me if this is alright? or will it loosen up in water?

have you worn a fullsuit before? wearing a full suit for the first few times will feel a little awkward. its gonna feel snug, thats a good thing, it should fit tightly. just make sure you can move freely, that it doesn't cut off circulation, and that you can breath ok in it. you can't always go by the size charts because you could be in the height and weight limits for a size, and the suit still doesn't fit because of your body type. you will see after trying on a few different brands in the same size, that they all fit a little differently.

especially in a winter suit, it is very important not to have to much baggy space, where water could get in. that will get cold real fast.

ye I have had a full suit before. Just not a winter fullsuit. The biggest problem I find is getting it on and off. Its hard to put on and take off cause its tight. Is that right?

I think it is about the right size because it should be tight. I can move in it, and i suppose that any other size would be way too tight or too baggy.

But is it really that hard to get on and off? it can feel tight in the neck after a while

5mm suits can be an utter pain to get on and off - they're just so bulky :?

They can feel restrictive, and do make paddling hard work. But as long as they're not actually squeezing then tight is good and keeps all that nice warm water in and the cold stuff out.

And its bound to loosen up in the water. so hopefully should be okay.

okay. Thanks very much for the help. I think it should be alright - like you said they are hard to et on cause they are bulky. baggy wetsuits just wont work at al so its the right size, just gotta get use to it. I didnt know they make paddling harder, I thought it would make you float more which could help with paddling.

I dont think I could bother buying a summer suit aswell. The one I got came free with this bundle and it is Large which is tad bulky so it wont work as well. Think id jus use my winter suit all year around
