Yeah enough of the gay subject matter. I never know what to put in that box. But i was wondering and asking all seasoned surfers out there, especially in the uk, if they have ever become ill while surfing and is it common. I.e, do you get the splats after surfing or are sick from pollution etc. As if this is one of the things a surfer has to put up with im not looking forward to it.

Thanks peeps. Oh and if you are uk bound then where should you not go if you want to retain you stomach lining.

Iv never been sick from surfing (Iv been injured from it) but when i first took it up i did feel abit lite headed after a session. HHHmmm that maybe why iv turned into a dumb ass haha :lol:

Na i'm all good, i don't even get that lite headed crap anymore i guess it's something you get used to after awhile.

Never surf Rest Bay unless you want to drink a couple of litres of pollution and turds from the nearby Port Talbot poo factories. I always have a sore throat and snifflage for a couple of days after surfing there (although that might be related to the insane coldness).

I was getting a Hepatitis C jab for travelling once and the nurse told me you can catch Hep C from surfing in skanky water like Saunton or Crow Point. Both are a bit too close to Ashford poo factory. Once when I was a wee sprog I saw a floating dump when I was sailing on Crow Point. It was only when the other kids started shrieking did I notice the old man chucking buckets of bilge overboard of his boat upstream of us... :shock:

never got physically sick from surfing...but a couple times came out of the water with big red welts, apparently from some funky bug that lives in the seaweed. (this has only happened when there was a looooottt of seaweed present).

See my dissertation... --> http://www.undeb.bangor.ac.uk/surf/sess ... sewage.doc

In most cases people don't make that connection between them being ill and having been in the water.

As I contributed to Papa's dissertation - I got a serious gastric infection from surfing at Llangennith in S. Wales.

2 weeks laid up in bed and lost nearly 2 stone!! - Great!

Papa- How did the dissertation go? Did you get a good mark?

Moncho- believe it or not - Rest Bay has the european blue flag for cleanliness!

SOme surfers in the north coast of Spain when the Prestige disaster flow to the sea, they were really ill because of the smell.

One month ago I thought I'd die because it was really cold outside the water, I was ill, with cold, coughing and with my 2/2 wetsuit :? I though I was going to caugh a pneumonia... I was ill for a month and still surfing... after all I'm still alive :wink:
