Surfing is unfortunately still a male dominated sport, but the balance of power is shifting all the time!!

The only place I have found there to be a lot of females in the water is in New Zealand, there always seemed to a few out at the main breaks. I found England to be seriously lacking female surfers where I surfed on the East Coast. I reckon that things are changing all the time and more and more are getting into the waves as the sport grows.

ITs on the change for deffo... The team here at uni had signups of about 40% female and the females team got to 4th place in the championships this year.
Sure the standerd isn't quite the same but in the pros its getting bigger for deffo.

The girls in our uni club are doing really well - they did very nicely indeed at the nationals but only me and one other bloke got past the first round! But it's still mainly blokes on the local break. Which is a shame, but it is getting better...

Well there are a few women that surf at tynemouth but we generally heckle them until they get out of the water, or if they refuse just keep dropping in on them

Only joking the more women the merrier, however be prepared to be oogled at the water it very barren of the female form and well men are only human

I saw some amazing female surfers in mexico (zicatela). The only problem is they weren't disimilar to the lovely reef brazil girls and they become a real distraction. But yeah I'm with surf patrol dude there are definately more and more females joining the sport which is cool.

I was out in Newquay at the weekend and there were loads of women out - mostly beginners, but just loads of them!

I even convinced my wife to give bodyboarding a go and she loved it!

There were 2 girls out back in bikinis!! Madness!

there are quite a lot of girls that surf down here in summer when the water is a toasty 10 degrees C. unfortunatley now that winter has hit, there seems to be me and one or two other girls out the back ( dunedin, new zealand). the water is about 7 degrees now and we have white pointers so no big surprise i guess. on the whole there are definately more girls surfing here anyway

you lucky you ended that post with an only joking. Otherwise I may have had to get really good all of a sudden and dropped in on you a few times.
