Gerry Lopez Costco softboard

Postby waikikikichan » Mon Aug 29, 2022 11:39 am

Finally got a Gerry Lopez Costco 8'0" softboard. A friend of mine "upgraded" to a hard bottom / soft top board, so I got it cheap. Most reviews said the Wavestorm is easier for beginners than the Gerry Lopez to surf. I can't really agree, but it is nice to have removable FCS type twin tab boxes instead of the screw in through the deck plastic fins.

Looks like you wiped out in that shallow area where the wave was lurching up. Did it hit board get damaged? Or you?
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

That beach break is full of rocks on the inside. You can see the boil form and the rock gets exposed after I hit the lip. It's all sand if you don't hit the rock, my board and body was fine.

I never thought I'd say it but i kinda miss the flex of those CBC foamies. They kinda feel like they morph into steeper drops especially backside. The rail came unglued eventually and I replaced it with a hybrid soft top instead.. but it hasnt really worked out as well so far.

hello,
where did you get your surfboard from? I want to order from amazon but all the sellers on there are shady, they might send me some garbage.

I purchased the Gerry Lopez Costco surfboard at Costco. I've seen them for sale at Costco Hawaii almost all year. In Japan, they stock them around late February through June. Not sure about Costcos in your area.
