The Eddie Aikau is running

So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I think the winner is a north shore lifeguard and long distance paddle boarder Luke Shephardson

It seems quite often that long distance paddlers win the big wave events. This is because it's difficult to catch big waves so the better you are at paddling the better your chances of catching waves that are difficult to catch. This is why I think surfing is the best workout to increase your ability to surf. However the problem with surfing is that if you are only catching a few waves in a couple hours then your chances to learn are greatly decreased. More waves caught means more chances to learn. Therefor paddling long distance is probably the best exercise to train for surfing. However if you can catch enough waves to not get much of a break from paddling/surfing then that will be better,

Stayed up until 3 in the morning watching live - was not dissapointed by a second of it!
When the wave breaks here, don’t be here. Or you’re gonna get drilled…

Pretty amazing story about Luke Shephardson winning the Eddie.. he was actually lifeguarding and doing rescues between his heats

I really enjoy Nathan Florence's vlogs. He is very informative as to the life of a pro/semipro surfer. Koa Rothman is cool too.

Yeah me too.. I like the way Nathan Florence explains stuff. Really down to earth and easy to relate. Good to see Koa come back from his spine surgery as good as ever too. Cool to see them collaborating on a new podcast series
