Postby lamb » Wed Nov 09, 2005 10:58 am

Hey people i need some help :? , i got into surfing a while back and decided to use my knowledge in my design project. I want to create a scent (like deoderants, perfumes, cologne etc) for surfers and want to know peoples opinions... Would you buy into a scent designed especially for surfers?

I'm not sure how you would design a scent for surfers - most of the smells you would associate with surfing aint that nice!! (with the exception of surf wax!!)

If I'm honest I don't think I would buy any scent based on anything other than if I like the smell!

That said, if I was looking around at smelly stuff and I saw a 'surfer fragrance', I would at least want to find out what it smelled like!!

Cheers

Hi! do you mean a scent designed for surfers "to surf" when surfing?? or just to wear when not surfing? :D

Fyg hehe I prefer to use neutral deodorant when surfing, nothing else, and when Im not I stick to my usual scents :D

I wouldnt buy something like a surfer perfume mostly because it sounds like "I want everyone to know Im a surfer" - me no likey -^^-

most of the stuff "designed for surfers" more often than not is not used/purchased by surfers. more often it is purchased/used by teenagers, young adults conforming to what is "popular" at the time.

examples: surf clothing (baggey jeans, board shorts, surf brand t's), hair accesories, fake tan - all of these are predominantly used by non-surfers in my area to give them the feel/image of being a surfer. actual surfers call these folks kooks and do not use these products

that said, your scent/perfume idea would probably be very successful and catch on like bird flu with all those people aching for the "surf" image.

Christ yeah how do they get people to believe that... "Spray more, get more" ROTFL

Its a nightmare when I'm working at the bar and it smells like a turkish knocking shop from all the over spraying from the check-shirt crew.

In terms of deodorant advertising, I am currently enjoying the 'Sure' Over the top protection adverts!

Gentlemen... why, on God's green earth, is the smell of piss so central to your olfactory experience of surfing?
