FAST PACE PROGRESSION, in need of advice on boards

So far I've been surfing roughly a year in awful conditions mostly but preparing for winter after summer progression. I've been riding the surfworx 5"8 foam surfboard quad fin 40 litres and have found my progression to be going well bottom turns and small cutbacks on 5ft steep'ish waves, looking for advice on weather I should keep surfing my current foam board or upgrade to a hard board. 6ft around 186lbs 84 kg.

I got to surf my friend's 5'8" softboard ( different make from yours ) and it had more float than my 6'4" hard board. What size make model hard board you're thinking about getting ?
