Possible fin box problem

Postby Matty133 » Tue Dec 01, 2020 11:11 am

Just recently bought a new soft top surfboard. When looking at the fin box’s one is built slightly closer to rail than that of the other side. From this then compared to the other two which are totally flat there is a slight gap on the rail side of the fin box. Would this allow water into the board and if so damage the board? Any help would be appreciated

Does the shop you got the board from have more of the same in stock ? If so, I'd ask the staff if you could swap it out with another ones due to your concerns of the fin box installation.

Well, you can still try show it to them and see if you can return it and get another one when new stock comes in.

Did you not check the fin positioning BEFORE you bought it ?

I wouldn't worry about the gap, just need to tighten down the deck screws with a 25 cents / quarter coin.
