Painting Softboard

Postby SimeonT » Wed Nov 04, 2020 6:52 pm

Hello together and good evening,

I (maybe) want to paint a surfboard with soft-top.
Did anybody already do something like this? Does it work? Which Colours did you use? I thougt about graffiti, but I don´t know if I´m destroying the top of the board.

Thank you very much and have a nice evening!

As Jaffa said in the link, probably try posca pens - whether you want to do an overcoat is up to you, but test anything you use on a small spot first up (foam can be a bit sensitive to certain chemicals). You should also be able to posca the bottom of your board and that will avoid issues of being slippery or whatever, albeit that it may wash off over time

If you dont want to use your board, and just want it as artwork, then go for it.

Hello dtc,
thank you for the link and your answer.
I heard about posca pens too. But only on Hardboards. Maybe I try on a small part of the board.
I want to use the painted board, not only as an artwork. That would be to expensive ;-)

If anyboday other has an Idea or already used posca on a soft-Top?

Use plasti-dip spray paint. It works! Be sure to vacate all your wax and give the exterior foam a good going over with a hair drier or heat gun on medium to open the pores of the foam and soak any remaining wax deeper into the foam. Clean with alcohol and leave to dry over night. I have painted several foamies and so far so good.
