Anyone recognise this board?

Hey all.

I’m looking at buying a longboard and have seen one listed locally. It’s advertised as a 9’ Bic, but it doesn’t have any bic decals etc which makes me suspicious. Does anyone recognise this board? A google search doesn’t throw up any similar designs.

From what I’ve seen and ridden, the 9’0” Bic have the leash plug in the center and have side bite boxes ( the ones I rode had specific Bic ones ).

I’ve also never seen that graphic before.

Does it matter if its a BIC or not? Looks in ok condition, cant tell if its epoxy like a BIC. Plenty of small manufacturers, buying a second hand board when you dont know who made it isnt uncommon

I decided to take a punt and bought the board. Figured for £100 with bag and leash I couldn’t go far wrong.

First impressions... it’s very heavy for a bic board (compared to my 7.4 Cortez) but seems in ok condition.

The seller claimed that it did have a bic logo on the front but he “peeled” it off?

It has a plastic tape line around the rails which has perished in places so may need some TLC.

So a follow up question.

From these new photos, can anyone tell me the construction/age of this board and how I should go about repairing the rail cracks?

Oh oh why don‘t you guys inspect,the whole board before you buy?

You will need epoxy resin or epoxy solar resin ( that‘s the stuff that set by UV rays in sunlight) , if the board is unusually heavy there may be water in expanded Polystyrene Foam,

I did inspect the board.

There’s clearly no water ingress. It’s heavy which implies it’s not a modern Bic dura-tec construction.

It’s just the edge “tape” that’s perished.

That’s why I was asking if anyone could enlighten me re. its construction.

Ok inspected and satisfied enough to buy! So you could probably go to the BIC site , a browse may acquaint you with the interior.
If they identify the foam ( most likely EPS then epoxy resins I said before , since the cracks appear small solar epoxy resin will work , then you cou apply the tape used on the rails of SUPs against paddle strike.

That should make board serviceable Enjoy the repair process and the surfing afterwards

It’s called “ Sandwich construction “. The top layer and bottom layer sandwiches the inner core with a visible mold line around the perimeter.

So it’s normal to find this kind of edging on a board?

Would it have been built with this or would it have been added later? (Ie, could it be taken off and redone or the whole rail neatened with epoxy resin?

I’ve just never come across it before.

Hi, back in the 2000's a bunch of companies came out with pressed Epoxy construction, not just BIC. On the positive side they last a long time, I had an NSP a while back and my kids dropped it from the top of the surf racks, nothing but scuffing. Yes fix it, if not the foam inside with soak up water when you surf. Any kind of epoxy repair will do. Bottom line, if you are stoked riding it then enjoy the stoke...
