Fatty wants a shortboard!

Postby MorseyB » Thu Oct 27, 2005 11:10 am

Hey, i normally surf at saunton on my custard point 7ft6 but am going travelling round europe in a van next summer so am after a shortboard for the bigger waves, went to biarritz this year and surfed on a 6ft4 fluid juice board, got up once but got spanked alot!

I'm 6ft4 bout 14 stone and wondering what board to get next.. i dont intend to lose any weight before then cos i'm a lazy student! any ideas? cheers

I'll take an empty coke bottle or something and try to capture Roys gentle aroma and will mail it over to you. That or a lock of his hair

If people do not believe it, then please tell me what size should board you would put me on at 210lbs (15 stone), 26 years of experience? And please do not take this as confrontational, this is only meant to be informational.

I agree, Sunny Garcia is just over 14 stone and he rides a 6'3" so I reckon you could ride a 6'3" too - depending on conditions.

I bet sunny might be a little bit better. That could be why hes riding a 6'3

Cheers for the help guys, i ended up buying a 6ft4 19.5 x 2.5 inches Saltrock board, it has the extra volume for Brittish waves or for fatties!
It looks pretty cool too with blue flame on the nose, was in the half price sale too, so got the board, bag, leash and traction pad for 160 quid! awsome!
Tried for the first time at saunton on really messy waves, but managed to get up a few times, was such a difference!
-the board actually turned when i wanted it too!
Cool

Im 17 stone and ive surfed 6'6"(way too small for me) Not much fun trying to stay on the wave. I go for someting like 6'10-7'4x19"-21"x2 3/8"-2 5/8". Where I live the average summer wave is 3', winter is avg. of 6'
