Hi,
Just found this amazing forum and am so grateful for all the tips and information that folks have been kind enough to share.
I'm an older (42 yrs) beginner looking to get into surfing more seriously. I've lived on the east coast most of my life so have only surfed when I've taken lessons on vacation. Always enjoyed it but given where I lived, I didn't think it was practical to take it too seriously. I've recently moved to Southern California (Newport Beach) and am amazed at how many great surf spots there are that are so close to me. Plus you can surf all year around!
Now that I have easy access to the beach, I'd like to try to learn surfing the right way and take some private lessons to get me started on the right foot and allow me to practice on my own. Even though I'm married with kids, I can probably find time to surf at least once a week, sometimes twice.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for a private surf coach in the Southern California area who is good with adult beginners? I've done some research and there are no shortage of surf schools here, but I was hoping someone with more experience can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for your time and help and I'm really excited to join this forum and start learning how to surf!
