Help with "In the pink" sizing?

Postby SamV » Fri Dec 13, 2019 11:28 pm

I am looking to buy a Takayama in the pink, My local shop has two of them one is a 9'0 and the other is a 9'6. I want to be able to ride it in small waves and a little bigger waves. I live in north Florida so we dont get to many bigger days so im looking to be able to ride this on small days and catch waves pretty easy and be able to nose ride on some of the smaller waves also. Im 17 and weigh 178 pounds and im 6'0 feet tall I have been surfing for a few years now and would consider my skill intermediate in longboarding. But I just cant seem to be able to choose what size to pick, so any advice will help!

What was your "Go-To" board ( the board you would normally always use ) that you previously owned ?

1) What length, width, thickness, fin set up, brand / model ?

2) Are your waves in Florida, beach break, point break, reef break.

3) What is "small" waves for you. 1 foot ? 3 foot ? no foot ?

4) You say you are an "intermediate" level surfer. How is your current noseriding skills ? Can you cross-step ?

Right now I have a 9'4 single fin from my local shops brand (the surf station premium logger)

beach break

small would be like 1 - 3 foot

Noseriding and cross-steping still need work for the most part

I don’t see the need to double and get a board almost the same size as your 9’4”. And if you want a board for bigger waves, I guess you can go down in size but not up.
That said, if you can’t noseride your 9’4” now, why get another board ?
If the nose on your 9’4” is narrower than the nose on the In-the-Pink, I think it might catch more the nose more on steep beach breaks.

I like the Surftech tuflite construction and durability. But I hate the In-the-Pink design with a passion.

I can't recommend or not recommend as I don't know anything about you, where you surf, how you surf and what boards you've ridden and like and not liked.
