the inevitable disappointment of badly-timed surf events

ok ... so ive been excited all week because we're having whats known as the vodafone surf sessions - andy irons, occy, sunny and joel parkinson coming to challenge some of our local talent.
the event was going to be huge ........... plus opportunities to meet the pros and get something signed. so we drive up to manu bay where the event is held .... flat as a lake. the pros are all in a meeting with the media, so we head to another beach for a quick and unsatisfactory surf, then return. still flat. eventually they are forced to call it off, and the ppl driving me there decide to leave before we have the opportunity to get anything signed. so really, the whole thing was a BIG waste of time. i didnt even catch a glimpse of any of the pros.
can anyone feel my pain?

ooooo Don't get me started... with focklness of spots combined with odd weather patterns that don't do what they are supposed to.... Argh!

A couple of guys from my Halls went to the Piha one today and said it was pretty sweet, sad i missed it, damn revision

yeah piha was alright ... though the surf was messy and tiny. but man, at the ripcurl pro manu bay was mint as! i just wish theyd picked a better time.
