Seeking Costa Rica advice. Dominical or Matapalo?

Hi guys,

So I've got a flight to San Jose, Costa Rica in mid-September and I'm doing some research on where to spend my 14 days there.

I am looking for:
Great waves
Low crowds
Chilled village
*Option to party (but not my main objective)

I'm bringing a couple boards with me and I'd say that I'm an intermediate-advanced surfer.

I'm tossing up between Playa Dominical and Playa Matapalo because they both look like places that tick these boxes, but I'm open to any other suggestions.

Dominical looks like it gets sweet waves and also there is Dominicalito close by which could be nice to have for some variety when Dominical isn't working or gets too hectic.

Matapalo is basically open beach and doesn't seem to have the variety, but seems like it might have fewer people in the water.

Anyone been to these places recently and can give me some advice? Would be very appreciated.
