Surf destinations in portugal or canary islands?

Hi

im an intermediate surfer from Oz and I'm planning a surf trip in portugal (or canary islands)... keen to get quality waves and swell with least amount of crowds... any thoughts on the best destinations... also if anyone has surfed in the canary islands? is it a better option?

I’ve surfed in both places, Guincho and Peniche were great spots in Portugal. As for the Canary Islands I was on Gran Canaria and I basically just drove around and checked out beaches found a couple good spots definitely liked the Canary Islands better

There are some excellent waves in Portugal, but it gets absolutely packed at many spots including Peniche. It's possible to find quieter waves but if you surf the main spots you certainly won't be alone.

No secret places anymore, even lesser known spots are packed. Peniche is great with many options. But it will be pretty full. I assume Fuerte will be less full as it is slightly less accessible.
