Friendly spots in Maui?

Hello,
Heading to Maui for a week, would like to surf once if possible, looking for a beginner spot that is friendly. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "friendly" ? Wave conditions or locals vibe ?

What part of the island will you be staying at?
