where do you surf???

how many of you guys/gals are from England? Midlands? Nottingham? your local beach breaks?
just wanna know how far you travel to surf.

im from leeds n i surf on the east coast, scarborough saltburn etc. nearly old enough to drive so ill be able to take myself soon

just about as landlocked as you can get, but summer and weekend trips to massachusetts and sometimes out to califronia.

I have two homes - one, sadly, landlocked in London, and the other is a purple camper van

In winter I can easily do a days surfing on the (fickle!) south coast (Wittering, Brighton, Bournemouth), but most weekends Im roving around wherever there is swell

Off to the southwest this evening...

I'm in the Midlands - Leamington Spa.

The 'nearest' breaks in terms of driving time are Porthcawl area and Bournemouth. Both about 2 hrs away.

Then you've got the Gower/ Pembrokeshire or West Wales.

If you're in Notts then you can look at Sutton-on-Sea/ Mablethorpe type area - yeah, I know what you're thinking but they do break sometimes!!

at uni (cardiff): rest bay, coney, sometimes gennith if i can be arsed with the journey
back home: woolacombe, combesgate, croyde

I made the long drive from the Midlands to Rest once on the promise of 3ft & clean (web surf report) only to find 1 ft and blown out to buggery!

Fortunately I've now found a reliable webcam for the beach!!

i've heard Scarborough (cayton bay) is good this time of year. Can anyone confirm that???
if so what mm wetsuit is best? i'm thinking North Sea gotta be freezin!

www.porthcawlsurf.co.uk is a good one, sometimes they can be a bit slack with updating the photos though so check the time/date at the top of the picture

i live in leicester, i surf saunton/puts and occasionally skegness ( i say surf...) weast runton (never again, scary nasty place) and cromer (once again, not sao great) dont get me wrong i love the east coast ive just never seen it surfable

know where your coming from babyboarder...been to east coast loads, never seen any waves only white stuff created by the wind (always windy at skeggy)
think it's all made up to get you over there
found some good pictures on the internet from scarborough, never seen it like that when i've been there though

East coast - Norfolk'n'good! or more accurately - fickle as f@ck!
Its alright once you get your head around the idea that you can't just sit at home and decide you wanna go surfing and expect waves when you get to the beach - don't bother unless you've done your research first.
