Basically the article states that when we engage in stretching, we quiet the nerves ability to warn us that we may be overdoing it. We are just training the nerves to be OK with that amount of stretching, like dampening the warning system.
I agree OMS, probably dynamic exercise is the way to go.
I'm going to continue looking into this. I see a lot of conflict as usual whenever I research these types of things...but if I look at the sources and who is actually citing good robust studies (no anecdotal) I can usually suss out some fact.
I'm no fitness guru, this is all fairly new to me.
