Could. Could not. I think you could probably know everything there is to know about fins and still not really know if it's your ideal setup for a particular board until you ride it. But you've got the right idea. I have a couple of fin sets that are kinda my baseline anytime I get new board, and then I adjust/experiment from there until it feels right. A standard thruster set is a good start.

You could also try running 3.25" sides with something like a 6" Futures compatible center fin, like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/FCS-Future-Sur ... 3095402885

I don't know about the quality of that particular fin, but I suspect that there are other fin companies that make something similar. You can ask around at your local shop.

You could also talk to the shaper and ask what he recommends as a fin setup for that board based on your size, ability, and the conditions. If you do, I'd be curious to hear back on what he recommends. It's pretty thick, so I bet he shaped it for a big guy who likes to go fast and wants to be sure to make it out of a tube. And since he didn't shape it as 2+1, he probably wouldn't recommend the fin I linked to above, although that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't work for you. That's my guess, anyway. But someone who knows more might tell you differently.

That Chuck Andrus is setup to run as a Thruster or Quad or Twin-stabi ( like it is now ).
The base line setup for a 2+1 setup is for the start of the center fin to begin at where the sidebites tips end. Yours does not have a center box, so getting it to that configuration won’t work no matter how much you play with the numbers.
If anything, I’d run your thruster set ( you have one right ? ) and find another center fin of same height and run it as a Quad.

That is actually true. My buddy who the board is built for is about 30-40 pounds heavier than me (160 vs 195lbl). I realize the best way to know is to try. I am thinking about getting a futures alpha thruster set and get a thruster replacement center fin from 3D fins. That way i can try both the thruster and longer center fin set up.

Why don’t you go to one of the local shops that has the Futures Fins Tree. You can borrow a Thruster set ( and maybe an extra center of same height ) for free. Just don’t bring it to Rockpiles on low tide, because you’ll be responsible for any damages or if you lose them.

If you don’t know of one, PM me and I can point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately, i dont have a thruster set but looking to buy one. The first time i tried the board, my buddy had a futures thruster set on it and the next time i used it, i put the twin-stabi that you see on there. I felt the thruster set up was better.
