Now there is a longboard contest in Taiwan running

Me and my wife surfed to the right of the longboard contest site in Taitung on the other side of the harbor wall. 5 feet and only us two for a few hours. Amazing place.

I don’t think Sawyer should have won over Kai Sallas for the WLT championship. Kai was riding way smoother and more on the right line. I think if Kai switched it up and threw in a tail 360 and be more progressive to match Sawyer’s two back side off the lips, he could’ve prevailed. But previous to that the judges were scoring for Hang 10’s not maneuvers.

Yeah. For a cluless beginner like me, Kai looked much more elegant and in synch with the wave. I was quite surprised he lost.

I think it's a tricky one but Sawyer win is correct. Sallas had better nose rides but only did very horizontal turns (cutbacks without hitting the white water), while Sawyer still had good nose rides but also did some vertical critical turns. I think Sallas held back with the turns, normally he is smashing lips and floating and ripping but not here...
