Wetsuit recommendations

Hey all. Dreaded wetsuit season is near here in the US southeast coast. My suit does not fit anymore (never really did). I bought my current suit at 5’6, 190ish pounds. Now in 175 range. It was a quicksilver synchro 119.00 model 3/2. It was a large short. I liked the stretch and flexibility, but knew it was a lower end suit. I’m not opposed to a lower end suit again (that one held up), but....

My problem is at 5’6 it is super hard to find a westsuit where the legs fit length wise. Maybe I can do a medium short now that I’m smaller.

Does anyone have recommendations?

I heard it is no problem to shorten the legs, just cut them with some scissors a mate of mine did it and it has been fine, might need to ask for more advise on that one though,
