First Repair Questions

I bought a board for super cheap at a garage sale that has about 6 spots that need repair. I would think they would need at least a layer of fiberglass cloth, resin, and hot coat. Only problem is I don't know where to buy the supplies to fix it. It also has what looks like spider cracks on the some of the top and bottom of the board that only a few catch my fingernail. How would I go about fixing them? I was going to have a professional fix it up but because I got it for pretty much free I figured it would be a great learning board. I attached some photos of the spider cracks I'm talking about.

For your "first" repair, I would go the easier route. Stay away from resin, catalyst and fiberglass cloth for now. Products like Solarez, have UV curing resin with chopped glass fibers in it. Sand down the area, tape up, fill ding, and put in bright sun until it gets hard. Then after sand it down.

For the Spider cracks / Shatters, there's not much you can do as you can't put a thin enough layer of Solarez on it. You can use some rattle can semi-gloss clear spray.

I've used solar rez before on a different board of mine because it only had a little chip. Some of the dings on this board are down to foam and some are on the rail, so I wanted some extra reinforcement. Would solar rez be enough?

So this ISN'T your "first" repair.

How's the solarez holding up on your other repairs ? If a lot of the foam blank is missing, you should use the Solarez Microlite-White filler to build up, then cover with the regular Solarez.

If you want to go the cloth way, you can try visiting marine/boat supply stores. If not there are all-in-one kits like Ding-All repair kit. There's Polyester and Epoxy versions if needed.
