Board mounted video analysis?

Hey everyone, hooked up the ol' gopro to my board and shot some video of an hour long knee slapper session last night.

Bigger conditions almost seem easier sometimes *shrug*

I've been focusing mainly on doing a proper bottom turn, making sure to be compressed, carve the turn instead of trimming (leaning) it.

Anybody have any other advice?
I think I need to work on shifting my rear foot back to really carve the bottom turn at times, and not turn too high up the face of the wave, especially when I start getting behind the pocket (in the whitewater)

I find it incredibly difficult to tell exactly what is going on with a board mounted gopro. I have to just guess what the wave is doing outside of the image. My only comments are it looks like you're having fun so good for you. Bigger waves provide more power to do turns with. On smaller waves you have to bring the power so they are more difficult.

what we can see looks pretty reasonable, double armed paddle not so great but we all do it .... pop up is fine, foot placement looks ok (maybe the front toes could point a tad further forward). You do seem to have short rides but as Old man says, no idea if that is the wave or your 'failure' to properly manage/surf the wave. You dont seem to be that comfortable turning backside, I think because your weight is a bit too far over your toes/leaning forward. But that may be because you are leaning into the face of the wave and its impossible to see whether a turn down the face is worthwhile

I notice you basically fall back and shoot out your board at the end of the ride. If you want to progress in your surfing, you need to make a conscious effort to kick out under control each and every time you end the wave. That will help with timing, body position, rail control , turning front side and back side. But most important it will help in being Proactive rather than Reactive.
