Any opinions on Firewire TimberTek boards?

Postby unrooted » Fri Jun 15, 2018 1:12 pm

I'm wanting a longboard that can travel well, as in durable, but can't find very many decent reviews for surftech or other epoxy boards, so thought the Timbertek boards might be a compromise between pu and epoxy.

I did find some forum topics from several years ago where shortboarders were splitting the deck from knee pressure while duck diving. . . and they all were complaining about Firewires lack of responsiveness. . .

The other board I've always considered was a Walden Magic in GSI epoxy, they seem to get the best reviews for epoxy longboards that I can find. . .and i might actually be able to get one of those used.

I have one (spitfire timbertek) and like it a lot....no issue from duck diving and is pretty durable relatively speaking........seen a lot of timbertek longboards that were snapped for sale.....no idea if they are prone to snapping or not but see a lot of them that have been.....I like firewire, boards are well made and surf easy....however, I have had a surf tech longboard and currently have two Jimmy Lewis longboards which are all made with a similar epoxy sandwich construction and are light, strong and tough.......that would be and is my choice.
