I'm in the US but this is a general question/problem. I surfed mostly in US but also in NZ and UK (Wales). A few years ago I bought a "bisect" travel board 9'6" but I never really planned to travel with it. It was just more convenient to have a 2 piece board that would go in my car once my rear seats were folded down. I have an 8 ft bisect travel board but it's a little too small for me.
Anyway, I never even looked at the 9'6" until a year ago. Waves are not great on the East Coast (North Carolina) which is one reason I never took it out. When I finally did look at the board, I couldn't figure out how to insert the screw and plate to hold the fin down. It's been so long that I can't return the board. And I didn't want to go back to where I bought it because the guy I bought it from was a little hard to deal with.
I've actually worked on boards, doing minor repairs and I'm familar with different types of boards and fins. I'm going to look at the board again soon to see if I can figure this out. I just wonder if anyone has had a similar problem. I'm going to try to find a local shaper who could modify the fin box so the screw can go in. However, there aren't many shapers here compared to California where I used to live.
