Ripsurf not mentioned much

Hi guys,

So there's probably a reason for this and I look forward to hearing your opinions but I've been googling around looking for a good way to practice on land and (especially on this forum) I see plenty of info about Carver, smooth star, skatesurf etc which all cost several hundreds of Dollars (or pounds) and little very little information on the Razor ripsurf (which costs about $/£ 50) which would seem to be a good option and is many, many times cheaper than all of the other products and seems to have good reviews everywhere. I can't find comparisons between the ripsurf and these other far more expensive products so I was wondering if anyone has tried them is there anything wrong with the ripsurf and why is it so little talked about here? Thanks!

Probably why it isn't mentioned here much is that this is a surfing site and that is a skateboard. There are those here who feel skateboarding helps their surfing and it may have been mentioned in the past but mostly we discuss surfing not skateboarding

Because it is more of a TOY than it is a TOOL. Those type of "CASTER" boards are fun to play with.....for kids. There is a bit of balancing involved. There is the self-prepelling motion. But that motion is a twist down the center line. The front foot pressures the toes while the back foot pressures the heels, then switches to create that twisting motion. You don't do that in surfing.

That not to say all "Caster" boards are bad for surfing technique. There are those with just the front truck as a Caster and the back trucks normal. There's a brand called TRYwheel and some brand Tom Curren was using ( which I forgot the name ). But if you going to spend that kind of money on a three-wheel, might as well buy a Carver.

So the other ones mentioned like carver, surfskate etc replicate surfing more accurately? Ah, that explains it then, don't want to be picking up bad habits. Thanks!
