Traction pad on a 6,6 fish outline... should I?

Postby lachyd333 » Sun Dec 24, 2017 6:21 am

Hey,

I have been surfign for 2 or 3 years and have been riding a 6,6 superfish 3 for about 6 months now (this board https://shop.surfindustries.com/us/surf ... fish-3-cv/) . I'm riding it fine enough without a traction pad. However, I often find it really hard to tell where my feet are. I find my self physically looking down when I want to get my foot really over the back part of the fins. I was thinking a traction pad might help with this?Alternatively, I was thinking of putting two little duct tape X's on my board to show me where the back part of my fins are. However, a lot of people seem to say fish's shouldn't be ridden with pads as you're moving up and down a lot (especially when they are on the bigger side of 6,6).

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks a bundle

If you feel it will help , do it. You should be feeling where your feet are, not looking! The pad may well help.
Any looking at feet or body position means you are already behind in the response needed.

Surfing in my mind is choosing the things that help YOU surf better, sometimes others opinions help sometimes they don’t
I have traction pads on my long boards, 9ft . They help me !

All you need to do is step on the leash plug. You can feel that for free. You could also try making a thick line of built up wax.
All my boards have traction pads from Longboard, funboards, fish, etc. I firmly believe in them. Just make sure you put it in the proper place and not to far up.
