Soft rack on a soft top

Postby Lcolosey » Mon Oct 30, 2017 6:29 am

Has anyone put a soft rack on a soft top convertible? My board is 8 foot and I don't want to be put on a kook of the day videos for riding my board in the back of my convertible.

Any ideas?

Worry about your surfing, if you have you top down where else would you carry your board?

What kind of car? model year? My guess is it would be pretty iffy putting a board on a roof that isn't firmly attached. I would guess it is safer to put the roof down and stick the nose in the front seat well and lay the passenger side seat back and have it laying on the seat.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I don't think there is any way to safely attach a board rack to that top. I would go for putting the passenger seat all the way down and sticking the nose of the board down into the foot well of the passenger side seat and have it come across the seat. If the seat back doesn't go down then you might try to find a bike rack or something similar that can be mounted on the rear bumper and serve as the rear part of the rack and then pad the front window and tie the tail to the front bumper

Like this? Not sure how safe this really is... Might be a good time to trade it in for something sensible and practical like Toyota Prius.

That would be with the top down so the board goes over the back of the car not out the side window.

Roof down for sure! Feels and looks great unless too cold!
I had the roof down for the first year of a convertible ownership.
