Surfing IN School

Postby CleanHeadHigh » Mon Sep 12, 2005 5:04 am

Hey everyone, just thought this was an interesting topic and wondered what your guys ideas on it are.

My friend just moved out to laguna beach, califonia and was setting up his schedule when he noticed there was surf team.

He gets to wake up every morning and go surfing first period, now tell me thats not badass.

i have also been thinkin of gettin a surf club goin at my school. no other teams to surf, because we are inland, but i figured it would be a way to get people down there savin gas and basically some way to get my self a ride. a couple problems tho: my school is gay when it comes to new clubs and sports. last year they denied our request for an ultimate frizbee club because they thought it was a stoner sport, although it takes too much endurance, agility, and sharpness for potheads(not tryin to affend anybody). and then im sure they would deny surfing because of the freak shark attacks and all the richboys mammas would come sue the school. :x i guess thats what happens when you go to a school overcrowed with rich-potheads with sueing parents thats 2 hours inland. :(

i still might give it a shot, but im sure that its much more do-able with a school that has more than 20 out of 2500 that surf like mine.

good luck to yall,
tommy

ultimate frizbee clubs were mentioned a while back-
we brought it up again to the board at school; this time they gave us the bs answer that they wouldnt give us any funding, so whats the difference between that and meeting outside of school.

wtf??!!?

that made me pissed

man this all sucks for you guys huh ?! ....

i dont get it , although in the uk schools would never stray outside the usual boring sports clubs ... " why the hell does US education board have a problem with the " frizbee " ..is it really because they think its totally a stoners sport ..cause " flesh me " ..ive seen good lid throwers and you cant do it that well if your stoned' !!! the most ive ever seen a stoner do with a frizbee ..is turn it over to use as a little table to wrap one up on ' !!!

All power to you guys .. hope the surf & frizbee clubs
in your schools get the attention they deserve :D

The high school I went to, in SoCal, had surfing for your PhysEd credit. You would take surfing for first period and have to have second period off. You were required to show up at the beach two times a week,
... man , how sweet was that ??!!

I live in Rhode Island and am going to Hendricken. I got a tour of it the other day and found out they had a surfing club. They have also won the New England Surfing Championship. I was surprised because they are no where near the water. I can't wait to go there. Hendricken is probably half hour away from Gnasett Beach.
