Wetsuit tall & slim size advice

Postby 06dhewett » Tue Aug 29, 2017 10:27 am

Hi,

Hoping someone might be able to recommend a wetsuit that fits some unusual proportions please - tall with relatively long legs/short torso but slim waist/chest. Appreciate there won't be anything off the peg that fits perfectly but something close enough would be great . . .

Height = 191cm
Chest = 92cm
Waist = 74cm
Hips = 94cm
Inseam = 89cm
Weight = 73kg

Cheers in advance,

David

I'm fairly sure off the peg will be impossible for you sadly. I'm not quite as tall and thin as you, but with similar proportions, and find off the peg really tricky, with only one or two makes sort of fitting me and even then the hip to waist ratio is an issue and the neck is almost always loose. For example, Gul are good for people like us, but with them your height is an XL and your waist and chest are a MS. MST is what I wear in summer (I have a custom made for winter), but I think the 10cm difference on the height will be too much - legs are ok as you just have your ankles showing, but the torso length has no choice but to stretch and 10cm is too much.

For custom, I'd recommend Snug; that's who made my winter suit. I just filled in a form at home, posted it off, and got my suit back a few weeks later. They're so well made that they'll last two to three times as long as a normal suit, so the fact that they're a bit more expensive doesn't matter in the long term. The only issue I had was although the suit fitted perfectly the first time, the neck was enormous and took two alterations to get anywhere near a seal - other than that it's a fantastic suit that they made for me.

Hi, thanks for your response & recommendations. Since you posted that, a friend has also recommended Snugg to me. I don't have the spare cash at the moment for one of their suits though unfortunately so I ordered an O'Neill small tall suit after doing a bit of hunting around and discovering they do that size. I fitting with the ranges for all of the measurements so hopefully it'll fit okay. Cheers!

Huh that looks like me when I was 18. My nickname was '2 be' as in 'looks like a 2 by 4'

Am multiple kg heavier now!
