Benj-ls out for awhile!

Hey guys! Just thought I'd give an update on my rehab- it's nearly been one year now since I last properly surfed on a surfboard. Jeez I never thought I would be out for a year and growing..

I'm progressing, well slowly. The physio has finally allowed more progressive exercises such as calf raises (yes my calf is still a stick) and also ladder drills on my tippy toes. I'm still not allowed to run yet. It's supposed to be a 9 month injury and I'm nearly at 8 months since the second surgery so it is going slowly.

But hey- this week he finally gave me the approval to sup without my moonboot and surf-sup without my
Moonboot in a few weeks.
I asked about proper surfing again and he thought maybe sept- maybe earlier. Another 3-4months should fly by given its now winter!

In the meanwhile I just brought 3x new deck pads from china so at least I'm still buying surf stuff as well?!
KeepING up fitness and water temptation with surfing. Quite a sight seeing a guy in a moonboot with heel wedges riding head high waves on a sup alongside surfers.
I've had comments and shear shock almost every paddle with everything from 'do you have a bionic leg?' To 'yeah bro f**k the doctor'.
Still gagging to try my 5'9 custom again that I only ever got to use twice!

You clearly have the persistence and optimism that's required to become a surfer - this time next year you will be challenging for a WSL spot!

You've got my deepest sympathy Benj, what a nasty injury that is. Please be very carefull and patient! Do you just go out for paddling to keep the shoulders fit?

Hey guys- well that was a quick 15 months I had a check in with the physio today after 11 months since the operation and he gave me the clear to surf again! It's been so long I don't even know how to feel!
The longest I hadn't surfed in 3years was 3 weeks, and now it's been 68 weeks and counting..
I'm off to Europe tomorrow for a month so I guess I'll be all good to get in to it when I return!
Finally try out my custom board again..
