Hey man, im kinda new here but i know where you're coming from.

I can only get in the water once or twice a week so I try to supplement my surfing with other activities.

Am finding swimming good for the shoulders and of course for lung capacity when doing freestyle. Also try to get down to the gym 2-3 times a week to work on my core strength.

Anyone else do any training apart from surfing???

Yea I cycle, it's great for the legs. Makes me stronger with cross-stepping, and walking the nose....like I can stay down with knees bent balanced..kinda like those lunges people do in the gym... :)

How does ultimate frizbee work?

I've got an aerobie ring that i take down to the beach with me when i go with others who don't surf, it flys for miles!

heres for the frizz:

you divide your teams up (i pefer 4 on 4 or 5 on 5)

good size field , we usually play in the middle of a 1/8 mile track

one teams throws off

the other team tries to work down field towards the endzone by throwing, no running while you are in possesion of the frizbee.

when the frizbee is dropped, not caught, knocked down, its a turnover to the other team, which then works in the other direction.

when you get to the end zone its one point for your team

make sense?

it doesnt really sound that intense, but it is when your into it

A simple version of american football (without movement whilst in posession of the frizbee, kind of.... ish?).

Sounds good man, i see how you'd need 4 or more either side though to get a good game. I've tried doing a few hot shot frizbee catches before except they normally result in me picking bits of sea shell out of my back/backside

Sounds like a cool game, i'll give it a go next time i'm down the beach, thanks.
