Canary Islands Surf

Anyone got any tips on the Canary Islands in May for surf?

Was looking at either Tenerife or Lanzarote, but I'm not too sure which would be best- my girlfriend is a relative beginner, so I'm trying to find somewhere she'd be able to surf as well..

Also, what's the water like around then in either place? Better to bring a shorty or a full 3/2?

Did you know that above the forum is a heading saying "surf map" lots basic information about many Canary spots have a look at that. Someone may offer their experiences too!
