My two friends won the JPSA longboard event in Indonesia. Unreal waves for the finals.

Yeah....it's sick there. Winds changing again so it's in it's final days until next season.

Wow! those are some nice waves
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

wkk - on your blog most of the waves are about knee high. Where to japanese longboarders learn to deal with the bigger conditions? Are there spots around Japan that suit (no need to name them, just interested if they are around and relatively easy to access for the surfer crowds)?

That break has been pumping the last few weeks....I heard JJF came through just recently and someone on the local Facebook page put up a bunch of pics of Yadin Nicol destroying that wave a week ago.

Too bad it's a right. :)

First, most of the Japanese pros hone their skills at other places like Hawaii and California. But there are places, on a giving swell, that can rival most famous surf spots. As for access there's area "boss"es that sometimes you need permission from or need to go with a local. Even JJF had to get permission at this one Shonan spot to surf there.

Side note....I was thinking about something you said before WKK this morning....I paddled out and found myself in the middle of 4 Japanese surfers....the rest of the lineup was scattered but at that moment it was just me and them.....so, remembering what you said, I proceeded to totally blow the first wave....on purpose. The next waves I caught and rode normally....no idea how it would have gone otherwise but the four gents were very polite and the lineup ran smoothly with turns being taken, paddle backs going around the longer way rather than right up the gut when they had an aborted ride, positions taken waiting for waves carefully maintained allowing for clear access to "the line"...etc. Will try again next time I find myself in a similar situation. :)
