This summer I'm moving back to my home break in southern NC after a couple of rough semesters of having to drive a few hours to surf. I'm looking to buy a new groveler for the small summer days. I'm 5'10, 155 and pretty active. My DD is a superbrand vapors (5'8x19 1/4x2 1/4) w/25.5L and it's been great when there's a decent wave working (not super often in the summers if you're familiar with NC). So I want something to make the most of this summer and be out there every day. I'm looking at a superbrand fling, which I've heard great things about. My dilemma is whether or not to go with the 5'2x19 3/4x2 3/8 w/27L or the 5'4x20x2 1/2 w/29.7L. I welcome the increase in volume especially because I'm at the ending stages of a broken collarbone recovery and am probably a little rusty being away from home. I know the shape and flatter rocker will help with catchability, but I'm torn on which volume to go with because I don't want it feeling too corky, but going down to a 5'2 also seems like a big jump. I would appreciate any advice or insight into the model. How do you all size your grovelers? Cheers!
