Freezing temps vs surfboard?

Postby illegalsmile » Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:52 am

Hey guys I've been surfing in winter conditions for a few weeks now. Today is the first time I was out in 39 degree water and 26 degree air temp with snow conditions. Oh man what a great experience! Perfect 4-6 ft rights for 50 meters.

My question is I had to throw my board in my car and keep it in there for awhile. Will the cold temps and water on it freeze and damage the board?

You are an iron man! I have no experience with this but from what I read online, it could be a problem if there is water inside your board.

If it's polyester, the freeze thaw cycle with cause delamination but epoxy should be fine... best advice is not do that again if you can...
