leash plug installation

Postby tomcat360 » Thu Aug 25, 2005 7:26 pm

hey yall

ive got this old longboard that doesnt have a leash plug, and its really pissin off the cops on my beach. supposively im gonna get a fine of 500 bucks next time. i was gonna just use polyester resin with a square of fiberglass cloth shredded up in it, but some guys at west marine(boat store) hooked me up with some stuff called Marine-Tex.http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/10001/-1/10001/72273/10001/96/11160/4
do you think this will work alright, or should i just suck it up and buy a half gallon of resin?

thanks
tommy

don't ruin an old log by installing a leash plug, put a leash loop on it. Get some Solar EZ and fiberglass roving. Get like a wide bore straw or something like that, and put soaked peices of roving over it over the tail until you get a nice, thick, smooth looking loop. Then when cured, pull the straw out and sand it smooth, and you got something better (looks better) than a leash cup.

don't forget to clean the deck with some like alchahol where you want to put it, and sand the deck lightly in that area too.
