well what I ment was make sure it flows as in, don't have like a bent peice of wood, make a constant curveature that looks good, and round up the front edge on the nose to about a foot or so back, almost to the wide point, but only foil that up about 3/16ths", and then make sure the board itself has some curve to it too.

I would template the board extra long and wide, with a bump wing and round tail, from the bump wing back you want down rails ( flat bottom edge, take off woodo on the deck so the deck edge meets the bottom) and then around the rest square will work with a hard edge on the bottom.

try and makesure the bottom is as flat as possible, this wil make the board work the best it can.

i was thinking of just doing a template like the nemo twin tip board http://www.nemolution.com/summer05/twintip-type2.html would that work? and i don't completely understand ur instructions (prolly cuz i don't talk the talk lol) so if u could clearify the part on the rails that would be a tremendous help

if u want to just email me pictures or drawings my emila is mike_speare@hotmail.com

if you make a shape like that, use equal rocker on each end, use what I told you to use for nose, and just get a peice of sixty grit paper, wrap it over the rails, and run it around the whole thing so they're just round all the way around, don't worry about foiling or anything, just make sure the board has a constant curve and your rails look the same all the way around.

Once upon a time I was suffering from a very long summer in France, where the closest thing I saw to surf was 1ft shorebreak, so I went to a local hardware store and bought a piece of plywood. Resources being scarce where i was staying I had only a straigh hacksaw, a pot of black paint and a pot of varnish.

I made myself a skimboard that is about 3 1/2 long. Painted black flames and a Rusty 'R' on it (I know I was young and thought it was cool!), then varnished it about a million times.

Even with this essentially rubbish skimboard I managed to have a lot of fun for the rest of that summer. I actually got quite good - doing shove-its and even managing to get a little rebound off the shorebreak. (no mean feat on a flat piece of plywood!)

I'd love to give it a try properly though! Some of the videos I've seen on the web are great!

www.mitchteck.com
starting at 20 bucks, can be custom shaped and painted. Woodies and foamies.

in laguna california, great boards.

http://www.plywood-skimboards.com/
make ok looking boards, somewhere in europe, but limited selection and their shapes don't look the best (in my opinion)

a shaper out of florida

you can check these guys out if yuo can read portugese...

http://www.proteus-xt.com/skimboards/skim/skim.html
or if you happen to be french, look at these guys.

Don't get a generic tourist shop board, they are mass produced crap (equivilent to a bic) designed to be user friendly but that's IT.

any surf shop should have a few skimmers lying around, you can go check out your local guys too.

the other big guys include zap, exile, and slotstik.
zap are more beginer targeted, while exile and slotstik are more comp level boards.
