Advice for a surfboard

Postby ouikoto » Fri Nov 18, 2016 6:08 am

Ive been surfing for 2 years now but its just evry two months, I did a horrible mistake buying a 6'1x18x2 1/8 shortboard that i couldn't use since my paddling technique is not that good. Again im planning to buy a surfboard but to avoid the mistake again thats why im asking for your help guys. im hoping it will be not that big and heavy as I need to ride a bus on my way to the ocean. I sthere any board like 6ft that could catch white to small medium waves my height is 5'5 .130 lbs

Someone is selling me this: BIC surfboard

Length 6'7"
Max Width 20''3/4
Max Thickness 2''3/8
Construction ACS
Fin set-up Fin-Loc®, Thruster

Someone is selling me this: BIC 6'7" surfboard and this foamboard i think its 5'8 :

1) You surfed one day every two months in 2 years ? So you been out surfing 12 times ?
2) What is the biggest board you can take on the bus. Here in Japan on the train, it's 2 meters.
3) There is not any board "that could catch white to small medium waves", YOU catch the wave. You need the correct float to match your level of paddling and wave knowledge.

BIC is strong/durable and a lot of float ( but is it allowed in the bus ? ). Don't get the foam board. That more a play around board in beach break for advanced surfers ( or for kids to play/learn on without getting hurt ).

"Lets say if im in vacation for 3 days there its 3 times per vacation"

2) What is the biggest board you can take on the bus. Here in Japan on the train, it's 2 meters.
"here in Philippines yes that could feet around 6feet"

Chief I really appreciate your reply... should I go for the BIC board?

It would be better to say that you surfed "30 times or 30 times in the last two years". Telling a shaper or shop staff that you've been surfing for "2 years" could be misleading.
2 meters = 6 feet 6 3/4 inches. That 6'7" BIC might be too big if you put in in a travel bag. Guess you can only use a board sock.
Just get something wide. Your mistake board was only18 inches, way too narrow. I use a 6'4" x 20 7/8 x 2 9/16 NSP Fish that I can bring on the train here.
