Why you shouldn't surf your power boat

So many things wrong with this video. I get mildly annoyed when there are jetskis a mile away, but I would lose my $h!+ if a power boat plowed through a surf line-up.

Also he missed a great opportunity for an off the lip floater.

This happens at one of the surf breaks I frequent. The best part is the news crediting friendly surfers for providing rescue.

Isn't it like boating 101 that you never allow the side (port/starboard) of your watercraft to get parallel with an incoming wave? In other words, always turn the bow of a boat into a wave. Anyway, just another weekend in the recreational boating world.

What I was trying to say in my previous post is this happened at a break I sometimes surf at. It's in Ventura, CA. The friendly surfers mentioned by the video reporter are from Ventura.

Yup, he probably got his license taking away and fined + who's gonna pay for that boat damage

And we had our first decent swell of the season this weekend around Ventura-Santa Barbara. Bad time to ignore boating 101... especially as a parent. Poor kids are probably traumatized from this incident.

It doesn't look like an accident to me, it looks like this guy was purposefully trying surf a wave with a boat, not just returning to the harbor using a shortcut and getting caught up in a wave. I'm not familiar with the area, but certainly the boater knew not to navigate the boat at high speeds towards surfers and a SUP in breaking waves on a beach break, unless he was trying to impress his kids.

I wouldn't doubt it. There are a lot clueless recreational boaters out there.
