Surfing Lombok for 2 months

Postby Bjornv1988 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 9:25 am

Hi,

I started a topic a few weeks ago about surfing Sri Lanka or Indonesia, and to be honest I am still not sure where to go for 2 months. Bali, Indonesia might not be the best option for me as it's very crowded and most of the spots have powerful waves that will be too big for me to catch.

So now I am thinking about going to Lombok, but I am not sure if it's an area where you want to stay for longer than a month? My trip is based on surfing, so if it's possible to surf all day in Lombok, I wouldn't mind staying in the same place for 2 months. I just would like to have some information about the area: spots, wind during the day, other activities that you can do there, ... ? I also read something in these forums about tourists being attacked, so I don't know about safety issues?

Are there any good surf camps that you can recommend (good price/quality)?

And maybe the most important question: Sri Lanka (Hikkaduwa, Midigama, Weligama, Mirissa, ...) for 2 months or Lombok/Indonesia?

Grtz!

Let's go over the answers you were given before , Indonesia has a 30 day visa system unless you apply well before!
You can enhance your time by flying back to Kuala Lumpar or Singapore= extra cost flights and $30 visa fee unless you are a free visa country, 30 days still app,y.

Lombok location stay at Kuta Lombok, or the surf camp in Gerupuk, unless you are in a resort area sensitivity to Muslim beliefs required. Going off somewhere without a local guide to advise you dangerous.
But by enlarge safe, don't get drunk in public , ensure your drinks are safe, drink at reputable bars, don't do drugs ( death penalty can apply.)
At about 150 Aussie dollars per day you could stay at Heaven on the Planet resort, easier surf , in the shallows of the bay, lessons and boards available, I know their quality I know that Gerupuk offers several options.
Indonesia is crowded but the further you get from Bali the less so.
Sri Lanka less so too.
Google each resort you fancy there and visa requirements. Lots of Northern Europeans and Isrealis head to Sri Lanka so some spots have beginner crowds.
Recommendation don't have any yet , but ,my method is to read through resorts make and do my decision .
You are running out of time for the season in both areas.
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
