Where are they breaking? I would think if you had that many break it's something you are doing to the leash that is weakening them.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

They all broke on different parts, one in the midlle, another near the knee, etc etc... the board is almost 8kg :|

Do you tightly wrap your leash around your board or do you leave your leash exposed to sunlight?

Creatures of Leisure and Ocean and Earth tend to get the best reviews, FCS not so much...Mine are all O&E and I havent had any problems, apart from one that never seems to be able to be totally unkinked (despite me hanging it from a second floor with a weight on the end for about 2 months!). However, even cheaper ones shouldnt break except under a lot of pressure, so as the others have said think about how you treat the leash - wrapping it around your fins might create little cuts; lots of throwing the board away to get under waves will stretch them, sun can weaken them (they are just a plastic).

I would consider looking at SUP leg ropes given the size and weight of your board. Like am 8.5mm one?

I was going to say the same thing about the SUP leg ropes. I would also look at getting a leash that was longer...like 12ft if you can. A little length takes the sting on the leash out of a lot of wipeouts....energy seems to dissipate and I don't get the same yank on the leg as I would with a shorter rope......that's a lot of times but not all the time.

The only problem with extra long leashes is that if you fall off and you dive through the white water/wave, your board ends up 12 ft behind you caught in the wash - and you go tumbling after. Not that gonig from 9ft to 12ft will make a huge difference most of the time

Long leash will keep that big thing away from you on an awkward wipeout as well. :)

In over 25 years of selling leashes, I've only seen 3 that have snapped. 90% of them were from fin cuts and the rest from cracked molding mounts or pulled out swivels. If the leash "snapped" within 1 foot of the rail saver, it's most likely a fin cut. It very easy to determine if it's a cut or a true snap.

Leash length wise for "normal" waves, the cuff should go past the nose when stretch out from the leash plug. Most makers measure just the actual length of urethane to determine the length. So adding in the cuff and the rail saver adds inches. For my 9'1" I use a 8 foot On A Mission leash. I have also used Da Kine leashes and their 8 foot cleared the nose. a 9 foot leash should be fine for your 9'4".

Seems you're using 1/4 inch leashes. You need to get the heavier duty 5/16 ( 8mm ) leashes.

Thanks for al the advices. Well, when you talked about rapping the leash around te fins I actually remembered I do that a lot, and went to check my FCS broken leash, it broke exactly where the fin is, so I guess that's my mystake, not going to do that anymore lol

I'm thinking of buying an Ocean Earth 9' leash, as the surf shops here dont have a lot of variety in accessories for longboard surf. Even the Fin that I use now (The Salty Merchants Messya Aura 10'1/2) I had to buy it online :(

Thanks again :)
