You don't want a tattoo -- Besides the fact that when you get to be 60 or 70 you'll think it's stupid, no matter what it is. The other fact is, you need to stay out of the salt water for SIX WEEKS while the tattoo heals.

SIX WEEKS. I'd rather surf.

On the subject of the pink wetsuited one.
I'm so glad you regulars have got "the measure of the man" now and treat him with the contempt he deserves, when he first turned up here I just thought to myself...oh no, knowing the trail of destruction hes left elseware. Kinda makes you appreciate just how balanced & happy this forum is compaired to others.

In reference to Roy; Isaac Asimov once wrote about a similar fundamentalist waffler; "he's a member of the armies of the night, intent on riding backwards, with his myths held high, back into the dark ages where dogma triumps over reason and superstition shrivels the seeds of scientific thought"

Kinda well put I think.

yea but still it's kinda the same idea of a something I saw today, if you're a sixty year old fat guy, just because you have a speedo on under your wetsuit doesen't mean you can take if off in the parking lot...

just because you think it's ok and can't see it i'd look kinda gross if you got super wrinkley or something and your grand kids were getting grossed out...

or you could just plan to not live that long and not have to deal with it

Personal choice. Theres no right or wrong. I have a tattoo. I love it. I very much doubt i'll ever regret it. There will be a whole generation of grannies with tattoos. The only thing i would say is be careful what you get, make sure it has some kind of significance for you, not just that it looks cool. And keep it simple. I was only told to stay out of the water for 2 weeks with mine, after that it had healed. Go for it.

Ps they hurt.

I remember watching an episode of the Osbournes where Kelly got a tattoo.

I'm convinced Ozzy never thought he would regret getting his, but in that episode he said:

"Don't get a tattoo - look at me, I look like a fleshin' idiot!"

I agree it's a personal taste thing, but then you're going to have to live with the decision. As long as you consider that, then fine - if you still want a tattoo, get one.

I wouldn't though, that's my personal choice.

I don't judge people for getting them, but they aren't my cup of tea!

Cheers

Thought I would join in! I am a girl surfer - well I can't really call myself a surfer yet as I can't stand up yet!!! But going to Hossegor for two weeks with my fella in 4 days so hopefully I'll be standing up by the time I get back.

None of my friends surf and I have always wanted to try so when I met my current boyf it was perfect! He's got someone to get up with at 6 in the morning to go surfing and I have someone to teach me!!

I'll never forget the look of dread on his face when, on my first time surfing, we were stood on the beach at hells mouth, and it started hailing! I think he was scared I would be a girlie girl and chicken out. I loved it!! I was in the sea longer than him - didn't want to leave!

Well and truly hooked and can't wait till I leave here on Friday and start the trek to Hossegor!

So no makeup for me - can't imagine how attractive you would look with panda eyes, foundation streaming down you cheeks and snot coming out of your nose (come on girls it happens to everyone!)

Anyway, stay cool

:P
